ASSIGNMENT #2 – March 2026

This month’s reading will cover 1 Samuel chapters 9 and 10. As you read, pay SPECIAL attention to chapter 10.  In chapter 10, Saul ascends to the throne as Israel’s first king.  As you read through the assignment, please answer the following questions:

  1. After Saul is anointed as king, this is followed by three unique “signs” (1Samuel 10:1-6). What do you think God was trying to communicate to Saul through the use of these “signs”?
  2. During each of these signs, Saul had to encounter other people.  Do you believe these signs impacted those people the same way as they affected Saul?  Why or why not?
  3. After God privately confirmed Saul as king, publicly Samuel takes Israel through a selection process that seems almost random (1Samuel 10:17-27).  Why would God confirm Saul privately, but use a different method publicly to select him?

Again, you have approximately 4 weeks to complete this assignment.  Your group leaders will contact you via text/email about a meeting time and date.  If you were never assigned to a group, send us a short email at tn4kapnupes@gmail.com. Otherwise, we look forward to seeing you at our next session!
